Kirjeldus: The general aim of the present investigation was to evaluate the relationships
between anthropometric parameters, different aspects of physical activity,
motor abilities and perceived motor abilities in 10-17-year-old children. We
hypothesized that specific anthropometric parameters are better predictors of
motor abilities than simple body height and body mass, and that physical
activity is not dependent on anthropometric parameters. Finally, our children
possibly perceive highly their main motor abilities (endurance, strength, etc.).
The specific aims of our study were:
1. to investigate the relationships between anthropometric parameters (skinfolds,
girths, lengths and breadths/lengths), somatotype components, and
physical activity with motor abilities in prepubertal, pubertal and postpubertal
children (Paper I);
2. to estimate the relationships between self-perceived and actual indicators of
motor abilities in children and adolescents of different age and sex (Paper
II);
3. to investigate the influence of sports participation outside school with
perceived and actual physical fitness and total physical activity in children
(Paper III).
